9-3-18 – Day 3 – AM

This morning Sue is doing well, she is more awake but still on the strong pain medications They continue to monitor her blood sugar and that has been phenomenally good. The Doctor is amazed at how well it has been. The range they want is between 80 and 120 and for the most part, she has been on target. She has been doing breathing treatments to help prevent pneumonia. AND! The BIG event today! Sue went for a walk! Pics below. Everyone, if ever you wonder if God hears prayers, LOOK! they are working!

Dr. Beilman came in smiling from ear to ear. He is so happy with Susan’s progress.  And we keep telling him how happy we are with him and the work he did and how good doctor he is. He takes the time to answer all our questions and believe me I have lots. I get to Sue but then later she is glad I ask. We also got to see the incision and believe me it looks good. She wanted us to post a pic so those considering this might have an idea what to expect, its below if anyone is interested. The catheter is out and slowly tubs are coming out. Her labs are leveling and starting to improve as well.

So the goals today are to get out of bed to work on the breathing and hopefully pass gas which will show the digestive system is awake and she can start on liquid foods. Walking will start to stimulate that. And rest in-between.

Sue in her private room Day 2 Late night and resting finally!

Sue’s First walk, Unheard of 3 days after surgery for most TP-IAT patients according to the nurse and even makes the doctor quite happy.

The incision. She wants people to know what to expect for those who might be considering this in the future.
